INDIAN LAKE/LONG LAKE 19

WILLSBORO — It was a wild game that Willsboro held on to defeat Indian Lake/Long Lake, 23-19.

The Wolves trailed early, but a 7-4 deficit was erased with a 10 run inning to grab the lead for good.

“This was a very eventful game with a lot of movement within the field,” Willsboro’s Emery McQuade said. “As the Willsboro team started off slow, we continued to carry momentum throughout the entire game and closed with another win. As the coach I am extremely proud of how the team responds and continues to react throughout the game. Even with our errors, they wipe the dust off and keep playing. They never quit, and that is what matters.”

Kenzee Vanderpool was the standout at the plate getting five hits and four RBIs for Willsboro. Teammates Laney Nolette and Lily Pike added three hits.

The Wolves’ Maddy Martin got the win on the mound with six strikeouts over three innings pitched.

Morgan Scofield had two hits to lead the Orange.

“I would like to give a shoutout to Kenzee Vanderpool for pulling five hits, nearly bringing in an RBI every time, and to shine on our throwdown out that happened between our second baseman, Lilly Baker, and our catcher, Lily Pike,” McQuade said. “A very great game, and I hope this continues throughout the season.”
