He recorded his 658th career point Friday night, passing Paul Rabil on a third-quarter goal against the California Redwoods.

“I’m just glad it’s over, honestly,” Pannell told ESPN sideline reporter Dana Boyle after breaking the record. “I’m just happy it’s over and just want to get on and win this game.”

Every goal.
Every assist.

Pannell’s pro lacrosse journey started when he was drafted No. 1 overall by the New York Lizards in the 2013 MLL Draft. Since then, Pannell’s been one of the best lacrosse players around. He’s a 12-time All-Star — missing out just once in 2025 — a two-time Offensive Player of the Year and one-time MVP in 2018, when he recorded the most points ever in an outdoor pro season (78).

Pannell made an instant impact as a rookie with 42 points. By 2015, Pannell was leading the Lizards to an MLL championship, alongside Rabil, and racking up 68 points. The Cornell product was a point machine in the early stages of his career. After his rookie season, he finished under 50 points just one more time in the MLL, averaging 61 points across seven seasons.

After Pannell’s record-breaking 2018 season, he spent one more year in the MLL before moving to the PLL. With fewer games, his point production slowed, but he was still a consistent force.

He spent one season with the New York Atlas before a four-year stint with the Redwoods. After just one playoff appearance, Pannell signed with the Whipsnakes in 2025. Pannell’s 20 points in his debut season with the Whips were the second-lowest he’s ever recorded, but the 36-year-old has found a better rhythm in 2026, entering Friday with 19 points in seven games.
