The United States, Canada and Mexico were the hosts of the 2026 World Cup this summer, with fans from across the world travelling to a number of major cities in each country to watch the games.
This weekend’s final between Spain and Argentina is set to take place at the New York New Jersey Stadium.

The third-place play-off that pits England against France will be held at the Miami Stadium, while the likes of Boston, Dallas and more have also hosted World Cup games this summer.
But one travelling fan has now taken to social media to suggest that Nashville should have been a host.

Scottish soccer fan Shaun, who has been documenting his journey around America this summer, shared his thoughts on Nashville via X/Twitter.
He wrote: “I’ll say it… Nashville would have made a tremendous World Cup venue.”
Exactly why Nashville did not get selected as a host city has never been made clear officially by FIFA.
However, they did put their name into the hat to be one of the possible hosts, though there does appear to have been some questions raised over the Nissan Stadium being used as a venue.
Speaking back in 2022, Tennessee Titans CEO Burke Nihill spoke about Nashville being a 2026 World Cup host.
As per The Tennessean, he said: “We answered all of their questions and we felt strong that the stadium wasn’t going to be an issue and I guess we’ll never know.”
Nashville Convention and Visitors Corporation CEO Butch Spyridon also commented, stating: “They [FIFA] grilled us and we answered them and then we put it in writing.
“I’m not willing to blame the stadium. I would admit it raised questions and I feel like we more than answered and gave them the assurances that they needed.”
